Lonely high school student, Yukiteru Amano, spends his days writing a diary on his cellphone, while conversing with his two seemingly imaginary friends Deus Ex Machina, who is the god of time and space, and Murmur, the god's servant. Revealing himself to be an actual entity, Deus grants Yukiteru a "Random Diary," which shows highly descriptive entries based on the future and forces him into a bloody battle royale with 11 other holders of similarly powerful future diaries. With the last person standing designated as the new god of time and space, Yukiteru must find and kill the other 11 in order to survive. He reluctantly teams up with his obsessive stalker Yuno Gasai (who also possesses such a diary), and she takes it upon herself to ensure his safety. But there's more to the girl than meets the eye, as she might have other plans for her unrequited love...

Yuki is a disaffected middle school boy who has no dreams or goals in life; in fact, the only thing he has is his diary. Writing down everything he observes and documenting every thought, the young boy uses it as an outlet for his imagination. One morning, however, Yuki wakes up to find his cell phone filled with diary entries for the next ninety days. Thinking nothing of it, he continues his morning until he begins to realize that everything on his phone is rapidly coming to pass, and it isn't just mere coincidence. Now, Yuki suddenly finds himself thrust into a survival game against other future diary owners to become the new Lord of Time.

Amano Yukiteru žil nudný život. Jeho jediná náplň bola písať si denník do mobilu. Jedinú vec, čo mal bol denník a jeho vymyslený svet. Avšak, jedného dňa sa mu v mobile začnú objavovať divné správy, ktoré zo začiatku ignoruje, no neskôr zistí, že tie správy boli to, čo sa má stať. Jednoducho povedané, v jeho mobile sa začali zobrazovať správy o budúcnosti. Bohužiaľ, nevýhody vedieť niečo o svojej budúcnosti sú veľké, pretože boh Deus, to určil ako hru! Hru na život a na smrť medzi 12 vlastníkmi Denníka Budúcnosti! Zabi všetkých a vyhraj Trón Boha! Ži, alebo zomri… (HeroKratz)

Jedinou náplní života Amana Jukitera bylo psát si deník do svého mobilního telefonu a povídat si se svými imaginárními kamarády v imaginárním světě. Kamarád, Bůh imaginárního světa, Deus Ex Machina, vymyslel novou hru, která Jukitera nenechá stranou ani v reálném světě. Nejprve se mu v mobilu začnou objevovat zápisky jeho vlastní budoucnosti, čehož vykutáleně využívá a hned poté se dozvídá, že není sám. Amano Yukiteru žil nudný život, jeho jediná náplň bola písať si denník do mobilu, avšak jedného dňa sa mu v mobile začnú objavovať divné správy, zo začiatku ich začne ignorovať no neskôr zistí, že tie správy boli to, čo sa má stať. Jednoducho povedané v jeho mobile sa začali zobrazovať správy o budúcnosti. Yukiteru bol povolaný do iného sveta k bohovi Deus. Kde mu vysvetlili, že ak svoj mobil stratí, stratí aj svoju budúcnosť, čiže umrie. Nositeľou svojej budúcnosti je viac, ale len posledný prežitý dokáže získať trón boha. Yukiteru sa spojí z dievčaťom Gasai Yuno… A vtedy sa začne skutočný boj… zomrieš, alebo budeš žiť? Hra začala!

OVA, která přímo navazuje na původní sérii. Vypráví o životě Gasai Yuny ze třetího světa. Yuna žije šťastný a spokojený život. S rodiči má od onoho incidentu ve škole dobré vztahy a dokonce má i přátele, ale stále se nemůže zbavit pocitu, že něco důležitého zapomněla. Co se stane, když 27. června, den před koncem světa, zaslechne volání Murmur z prvního světa? Dokáže přijmout svou minulost z předchozích dvou světu?

Yuno Gasai lives a normal life as a first-year in high school. She gets along well with her parents and even has a small circle of friends. However, she cannot help but feel as if someone is missing from her life, someone so important to her that it was as if she had lived another life trying desperately to stay with them. After a class trip to the beach, Yuno returns home; but in the middle of the night, she receives strange messages from a voice only she can hear. The voice informs her of the person she is desperate to meet and that she must find him. Soon, she finds herself in a mysterious realm, her only goal being reunited with the person she cannot remember. Though obstacles stand in her way, Yuno will stop at nothing to meet her beloved once again.
